An easy hair scrunchie (PDF HTML)... not sure whether it's any better than some of the other patterns, but it's pretty quick and fun to make. Besides, if you've never done any shortrow shaping, this is a great way to start.
A few months ago, I went searching for a simple slipper pattern -- more of a sock with a short cuff. I found a few, but wasn't all that happy with any of them for one reason or another... so I decided to write my own that would let me size my slipper based on actual foot measurements.
